The Organizations

My TEDORI, My AFRICA Challenge is a partnership between Rissho Kosei-kai and the Community of Sant’Egidio to address African issues.

Rissho Kosei-kai

Rissho Kosei-kai was founded in 1938 as a lay Buddhist organization primarily focused on the Threefold Lotus Sutra. Followers seek to apply Buddhist teachings in their families, places of work and community in pursuit of building a peaceful world.
As Buddhists, we engage in missionary work. We work hand-in-hand with people of every religion and every walk of life on peace-building activities in Japan and across the globe.

The Community of Sant’Egidio

The Community of Sant’Egidio is a lay Catholic movement that was founded in Italy in 1968.
Based on a commitment to prayer, it has a mission of helping those who are socially vulnerable in Italy and across the world.
It is actively engaged in international conflict mediation and since 1987, it has also promoted interfaith dialogue by holding the International Meeting of World Religions for Peace at a different city in Europe each year.
